Earth l Mutable l Feminine

Ok, I'm going to start by saying hello eclipses. We had a lunar eclipse two weeks ago and now we have a partial solar eclipse. This is the second new moon in Virgo this month and the fact it is at 29 degrees gives it much more weight! I hope you're ready for Virgo extreme.

Let's look at the core psychological makeup.

🌕 Virgo, ruled by Mercury, is the mutable earth sign that has a perpetual 'void'. Constantly analysing and noting imperfections has Virgo stressed and mentally-explosive.

Psychologically, Virgo harnesses our capacity for discernment—sifting through thoughts, habits, and environments to identify what truly serves our growth. In this we see the value of Virgo as it strives to 'fix' itself towards perfection. I call this its path to betterment.

🌟 This sign’s strong association with service can foster a sense of grounded purpose when we channel its energy constructively. The humble nature of Virgo has an inferior ego (and complex). This leads to a tiresome work ethic, favouring productive and constructive actions. Efficient too.

As per all New Moons, this is a beginning/seeding event.

💡 The shadow side of Virgo

Beneath Virgo’s orderly exterior lies a shadow of hyper-vigilance and self-critique. When unintegrated, Virgo’s gift for detail can turn into a relentless inner judge that magnifies flaws—physical, mental, or emotional.

This inner critic often manifests as anxiety around “doing it right,” leading to perfectionist paralysis or compulsive corrective behaviours that undermine well-being. The coined phrase of 'analysis paralysis' springs to mind.

We refer to Virgo as the void that is never filled. This psychologically means that there is a sense of less/loss/non-completeness in Virgo which can be pretty tough to manage, unless you know what Virgo truly stands for (service). Service is something it shares with Pisces and between them, an egoless existence that is not wrapped up in a projected persona of greatness. Instead, we see the best of Virgo as an expression of service to something that is meaningful, purposeful and steady. It is after all an earth sign.

Ruler Mercury at (5°) Libra in wide conjunction

Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, functions like an executive assistant to the psyche—translating intentions into actionable steps. At this New Moon, Mercury sits in close conjunction with the Sun and Moon, sharpening mental clarity and the urge to refine our daily routines. While this placement supports precision and insight, it can also encourage over-analysis, making self-compassion an essential counterbalance.
