I felt it all with you - New Moon at 21°59' mins Cancer, on 14th July at 10:44 am BST

YouTube Video:

Water l Cardinal l Feminine l Moon-ruled

This Moon is in its home sign of Cancer, with Mercury retrograde (30th June - 23rd July) intertwined. Neptune is newly retrograde for the next five months (7th July - 12th December) too.

There's an internal script that has been running but with so much noise, you probably haven't had a chance to tune in and sit with it UNTIL NOW. You see we often run on internal autopilot. Our ingrained behaviours, needs and insecurities unconsciously running the show. Retrogrades are good at forcing the inner sight.

🐚 Cancer themes

🌟 Cancer and the Moon are the past as seen from the present. The energy of our egos and inside worlds. A recognition of our individual selves (conscious awareness).

Cancer is the 'Mother' of the zodiac. The one that holds us, helps us regulate our emotions, senses our needs and provides. The one that tends to our tears and our wounds.

Cancer is care, nourishment, need and familial connection.

In evolutionary astrology, Cancer is our ego. The understanding of ourselves as individuals with our own consciousness. Aware that we have needs that are not logical or even practical. No. They are emotional needs related to safety. Think about someone that allows you to be 'you' with your pjs and slippers and unbrushed hair. That you can lean on and sigh with ease and relief. Smile and know you're 'ok' right there, with them. That's Cancer, that's Moon!

My Dad is a Cancer Sun/Venus and I call him 'homebody'. He much prefers to be in his home, relaxed and comfortable. Watching far away places on the tv. He loves being around his family and enjoys people cooking and caring for him. While Mum and I react passionately, he holds his feelings inside. Rarely shouting or creating a fuss. So we can expect with this New Moon to be 'homebodies'. Attaching to the familiar, wanting to be with those that know us and care about us. To feel 'safe' without pretence or performance. It's real fuzzy and cuddly, soft and sweet. Like a toddler that climbs on your lap and falls asleep.

When this Cancer Moon hits, expect a focus on:

  • Nostalgia and sentiment.

  • Formed instincts, attachment patterns and sense of belonging.

  • Your inner home and private world. Inner child.

  • Where you feel safe and nurtured in an emotional sense.

  • Subtle signals in the gut and an inner knowing.

  • Your physical 'home', abode, family and clan. How you bond and who with.

As per all New Moons, this is a beginning/seeding event.

The shadow side of Cancer

Cancer’s shadow emerges when emotional needs go unmet or unspoken. Which is common as Cancer isn't a sign to shout needs aloud. They are centred in the body, in the felt and the shared vulnerability. When unable to emote healthily, you'll see:

  • Emotional withdrawal: Retreating into the shell, shutting down communication, or expecting others to “just know.”

  • Clinging to the past: Nostalgia that becomes a trap, replaying old wounds, or staying loyal to outdated emotional patterns.

  • Overprotection: Guarding the heart so fiercely that others are refused entry.

  • Caretaking as control: Giving too much or using nurturing to secure attachment. Creating dependency.

  • Mood-driven decision-making: Reacting from fear or insecurity rather than grounded intuition.

  • Feeling so much, that logic doesn't feature.

Mercury RX at (19°) Cancer, conjunct the New Moon

With Mercury retrograding in a conjuncting, our thoughts and feelings are connected.

There's no escaping old memories or feelings as we travel back in our mind. Usually Mercury likes to play tricks and cause communication issues. Not an ideal time for signing contracts or not double checking emails and messages. This can get mixed up or mis-communicated, so hang tight.

  • A pull backward into memory

  • Revisiting old conversations, family dynamics, or emotional narratives

  • A need to reflect before acting

  • Finally syncing your emotions with your mind and deciding on something

You might circle around for a bit and realise that you have kinda known all along, but for some reason your mind was adding too much logic or analysis.

Do you now see what you need in your life and where you feel safe?

Or where you've been telling yourself you don't care (about something or someone). Well... you do.

New Moon square Saturn at (14°) Aries

Ok, it's a tad wide, but it still counts. Squares to Saturn mean hard work. You can't just 'have' what's on the table, you have to earn it. And in Aries, owning the courage to go after it in the first place. It might feel futile or you might be overly-attached to the outcome. But be sure you want it because Saturn is in for the long haul.

What else is going on: Other aspects

A highly active Pluto RX - conjunct Juno RX at (6°) Aqua, sextile Neptune RX at (4°) Aries, trine Uranus (4°) and Mars in Gemini (10°) and opposite Jupiter at (3°) Leo

Wow. Pluto the heat-seeking missile is a penetrating master with a strategic task that never fails. The task is transformation. And the only way to do that is to die to yourself and rebirth more powerful. With this amount of activity, emotions are deeply felt in partnerships, in a nostalgia sense and with a need for communication. Uranus is truth and Gemini the chatterbox. Neptune reminds us that timing isn't by our design and Jupiter in Leo, represents our highest creativity. We can create with what comes our way - we can create BETTER too.

🖤 Questions for reflection

Use these for journaling, ritual, or meditation.

  • What emotional truth have I been circling but avoiding naming?

  • Where do I go internally when I need safety — and is that place still serving me?

  • What does “home” mean to me now, not ten years ago?

  • Which emotional pattern from my family system am I ready to release?

  • What intention has been quietly waiting for me to acknowledge it?

  • Where am I protecting myself too much — and where not enough?

  • What needs to be said that I’ve been holding inside? (Mercury Rx)

  • What future expansion (Jupiter in Leo) requires me to do inner work first?

🌿 Rituals to connect with the New Moon in Cancer

1. The Inner Home Ritual

Sit somewhere private. Ask yourself: What does “home” feel like in my body?   Write down sensations, not ideas. Let the body define home before the mind interprets it.

2. The Ancestral Lineage Clearing

Cancer rules lineage. Write down one emotional pattern you inherited that no longer serves you. Burn or bury the paper. Say: This ends with me.

3. The Shell & Softness Practice

Cancer’s symbol is the crab: shell + softness. Identify:

  • One boundary you need to strengthen.

  • One place you need to soften.

  • Commit to both equally.

4. The Mercury Retrograde Memory Walk

Revisit a place from your past — a childhood street, an old journal, a photo album. Notice what emotion rises first. Ask: What is this memory trying to teach me now?
