Save your tears - New moon at 04°07' mins Cancer, on 25th June at 11:33 am GMT

Water l Cardinal l Feminine

🌕 The New Moon in Cancer will occur on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:33 AM BST, positioned at 4°07’ Cancer. This lunar event invites us to embrace emotional depth, intuition, and the nurturing energy of Cancer.

As per all New Moons, this is a beginning/seeding event.

🌟 Cancer, ruled by the Moon, is a Cardinal Water sign known for its deep emotional intelligence, nurturing nature, and strong connection to home and family. Those born under Cancer are intuitive, protective, and sentimental, often guided by their emotions rather than logic. They thrive in environments that provide security and comfort, making them natural caregivers and loyal companions.

Cancer’s symbol—the Crab—represents their ability to retreat into their shell when overwhelmed, yet their resilience allows them to navigate life’s emotional tides with grace.

💡 The energy of emotional awareness and sensitivity is often defended with Cancer. During emotionally-destabilising moments, you may find that instead of tears, the shield comes out. That the emotions are withheld, along with your involvement with them.

The shadow side of Cancer

While Cancer’s nurturing qualities are admirable, their shadow side can manifest as emotional overdependence, moodiness, and passive-aggressiveness. They may struggle with holding grudges, excessive clinginess, and a tendency to retreat into self-pity when feeling misunderstood. Their deep sensitivity can make them prone to manipulation tactics, using guilt or emotional withdrawal to control situations.

Recognizing these traits allows Cancer individuals to embrace self-awareness and cultivate emotional balance.

Ruler Moon at (4°) Cancer conjunct Jupiter at (3°) Cancer

The Full Moon in Sagittarius post contains some key takeaways for Jupiter in Cancer, as per the lens of the Full Moon.

So let's consider how this same position is impacted with the New Moon in Cancer.

As the planet of expansion, we see it expanding the sun and the moon here. Planting seeds that relate to our ability to create (sun) and feel (moon).

We may feel overwhelmed with emotion. Or flooded with a need to be or provide safety. We might become more sensitive in our emotional body, reacting easily or tearing up over the simple things.

On a positive side, emotions may flow easily, allowing us to bond with others, to relieve our bodies of held feelings or, connect to our childhood like an inner journey.

This could be an ideal time for:

  • Being held physically / feeling safe and vulnerable with another.

  • Seeking therapy to move through uncomfortable childhood events.

  • Owning the emotions that we feel and removing a need for repression.

  • Bonding more deeply with family (and those with consider family).

  • Sharing memories of the past (whether they be loved ones or troubling ones).

  • Allowing for self-care activities (especially those that include water).

New Moon in Cancer aspects to other planets

Square Saturn @ (1°) Aries and Neptune @ (2°) Aries

The natural square between Cancer and Aries calls up themes of independence and dependence. Of being the feisty, impulsive warrior that attacks without thought, and the emotionally-intelligent, passive feeler that seeks to self-protect.

Saturn in Aries can limit the self-action, lending a more cautious vein to the typical Arian initiative nature. While Neptune (another water sign) can even allow the self to simply fade away. Both signalling a rise of understanding of how emotions can affect the identities we project and preserve. If we look at Aries as the ultimate masculine that would rather fight that be seen as weak, then we may 'get' that the value of this aspect is not to fight (and maybe not even cry), but to grow (Saturn) and gain wisdom (Neptune). To gain emotional clarity, strength and intelligence.

Saturn is attributed to challenging circumstances that limit, slow down or narrow. Teamed with Neptune - known to be spiritually-wise and troubling evasive - both are toughened in Aries. There's a strength here in what may be perceived as 'weak'. As always with Neptune, the goal isn't obvious, and you must use your inner sight and faith.

Sextile to Mars in Virgo (4°)

We see the potential for self-improvement with Mars in Virgo. We get a sense that by honouring the critique process, we can (and will) improve ourselves. But first, we must look closely at what requires work.

Let's look at the chart for the New Moon in Cancer

What else is happening?

Uranus @ (29°) Taurus

Before Uranus bursts into the sign of Gemini, it must first face the fullness of the 29th degree in Taurus. As a fixed planet in a fixed sign, this transit has been plagued with stubbornness, a refusal to step forward and a harsh look at resources, food production/farming and pleasures. While yes, Uranus will herald in the new in innovative aplomb, the creative genius is far from agile in a sign that prefers the road of comforts.

This aspects is a 'peak' and final 'push' towards challenging outworn practices in the above areas. Now is the time to finally innovate, experiment and introduce what will provide for us all in the future.

Pluto @ (3°) Aquarius opposite Mercury @ (28°) Cancer

The continuation of Pluto in Aquarius brings us into ever greater danger (sorry for the drama). Pluto is control and the lack thereof. Whilst Aqua experiments with such powers with intellectual logical and a distant viewpoint. Beware what happens when we lose that control (lets say AI takes over, drone attacks, technological disaster).

And I know, I know this is pretty Terminator, but with Aqua it is fast, sudden, shocking and in the name of science. It is not always considerate of human safety or loving.

With Pluto ruling the underworld (underhand activities, the psyche and death), you can see why I add the danger points.

Still, nothing is certain and we are seeing major turning points in technology, advanced robotics and psychological intellectualism.

With this opposing Mercury in Cancer (out of sign), then is a see-saw with safety, self-protection and emotional thinking.
